Help! My baby has such a strong sleep association, I don’t know how to get them sleeping without it.

A sleep association is basically what your little one relies on to fall asleep. It's like their sleepy-time buddy or ritual that signals it's time to doze off. Common ones include feeding (breast or bottle), rocking, a dummy (pacifier), or even a particular blanket or stuffed animal. These associations can sometimes lead to sleep troubles if the baby wakes up and can't find their sleepy-time buddy to help them nod off again.

For some, sleep associations pose no problems but, for many, they can become a real issue as parents are continually woken through the night with babies who are looking to be fed, rocked or who are frantically searching for their blankie (or dummy).

Many parents accept the regular night wakes until they get to a point where it becomes unbearable, and they start seeking ways to get their little one sleeping for longer stints without their sleep association.
